One of the great things about watching anime is you have the chance to discover great music. Sure, you may not be able to understand it at the best of times, however, you can’t ignore a good J-Pop banger!
Dawn – Sayuri x MY FIRST STORY
Golden Kamuy, Geno Studio, 2018
A song that originally came up on my anime Spotify radio, it immediately got stuck into my head. The excited shouting of the lyrics. along with the spoken part within, is just incredible. It compliments the show incredibly well, as this being the second opening, reinforces the love for the characters, whilst not dropping the fact that immense action is about to happen with all the fantastic characters.
Inferno – Hiroyuki Sawano (feat. Benjamin, mpi)
Promare, Trigger, 2019
Having become one of my 10/10 films, one of the main reasons why I gave it that rating was because of this song. It sets the hype, it sets the emotion, you know exactly what kind of journey you are in for. It makes all the more sweet when you hear it at the end, but to understand that feeling for yourself, you just need to watch it! Incredible song!
Ame ga Furu kara Niji ga Deru – SKY PEACE
The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments, A-1 Pictures, 2018
This could be the most surprising one out of the list here, because it’s from a show I can’t guarantee I will watch for some time. However, I came across this from playing AMQ, and when you hear those first opening notes, it really does hit you with some power. I think it’s a fantastic song, and there is no doubt that fans of the Seven Deadly Sins franchise will agree with this one!
VORACITY – MYTH & ROID
Overlord III, Madhouse, 2018
From the boy and girl that brought you those sharp and catchy songs from Re:Zero, VORACITY definitely deserves more play time than it currently has. If there was one song to define how a Monday morning feels when your rampaging around your house, feeling crazy and feeling hungry, it would most certainly be this one.
Soaring – Sydney Forest
Kiki’s Delivery Service, Studio Ghibli, 1989
Whilst this is technically not a rediscovery, it’s going in my top five songs for the month for one very simple reason. I rounded off my Ghibli marathon with rewatching the very first film that started it all off for me. I’m so glad that I did, because I really can’t get enough of this song and it just feels like a song that can inspire you to do anything you want. It’s certainly been helping me through this horrible lockdown we have been in, so in the list it goes!
Let me know down below what songs you have found this month that you’ve fallen in love with, or reunited with again!
